Nebraska Beef Ltd is recalling 1.2 million pounds of beef because the products may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

Morristown, N.J. - Actavis Totowa LLC, a U.S. manufacturing division of the international generic pharmaceutical company Actavis Group, initiated a Class I nationwide recall of Digitek for oral use.

Camden, N.J. - Thousands of pet owners in the United States and Canada could be reimbursed for veterinary bills and pet burial or cremation costs they incurred following last year's massive pet-food recall, under terms of a $24 million settlement filed in U.S. District Court in New Jersey.

A nationwide network of veterinary toxicology laboratories, each with similar testing capabilities and an efficient communication system, could become one of the best weapons to help ward off another major pet-food crisis, even helping protect the human food supply against a serious poisoning outbreak.

Washington, D.C. - 12/27/07 - Improved communication between veterinarians and the pet food industry, the development of state feed regulations and the establishment of DVM-patient diet histories can all help improve the safety and monitoring of pet food, according to the National Pet Food Commission (NPFC).

National Report - As confusion, outcry and updates continue to grow on pace with the pet food recall, several key organized veterinary associations stepped up to help calm the frenzy and restore pet owner sanity.

Topeka, Kan.- Hill's Pet Nutrition dispatched a 250-person team to collect its recalled products after they were snared in the large-scale pet-food contamination crisis from Menu Foods.

The expanding pet-food recall that started with Ontario-based Menu Foods Inc. has prompted the government to consider whether pet foods should be regulated in Canada.
