Nebraska Beef announces recall

Article

Nebraska Beef Ltd is recalling 1.2 million pounds of beef because the products may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

Omaha, Neb. - A news release issued late Friday night announced that Nebraska Beef Ltd is recalling 1.2 million pounds of beef. The recall comes a month after a 5.3 million pound recall by the same company.

Whole Foods Market carries some products from Nebraska Beef and also announced a recall.

According to the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the beef was produced June 17, June 24, and July 8. A joint investigation with state health departments, Centers for Disease Control, and the USDA identified the problem. So far, the investigation turned up 31 cases of the contamination in 12 states and Canada.
