Sevoflurane inhalant anesthetic for dogs

Sevoflurane Inhalation Anesthetic by Parnell Technologies is an FDA-approved inhalant anesthetic for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in dogs. Supplied as a clear, colorless, nonflammable liquid in 250-mL bottles, it may be administered via mask induction at concentrations up to 7% in oxygen, with maintenance concentrations generally ranging from 3.3% to 4.0%. The most commonly reported adverse reactions include hypotension, tachypnea, apnea, and emesis.

Pet registration and reunification integration for shelter software

DocuPet’s National Pet Registry integration with AnimalsFirst allows shelters using the AnimalsFirst platform to register adopters and their pets directly at the point of adoption. Each registered pet receives a free HomeSafe tag with a unique code linked to a secure online profile, enabling anyone who finds a lost pet to initiate the reunification process. AnimalsFirst serves approximately 120 animal welfare organizations across North America.

Generic pimobendan for canine congestive heart failure

Pimobendan Chewable Tablets by Cronus Pharma LLC is the first FDA-approved generic bioequivalent of Vetmedin, indicated for management of mild, moderate, and severe congestive heart failure in dogs caused by myxomatous mitral valve disease or dilated cardiomyopathy. The inodilator strengthens cardiac muscle contractions and dilates blood vessels to improve cardiac output. The medication is available by prescription in 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg in bottles of 50 chewable tablets.

Therapeutic diets for kidney issues alongside skin or GI sensitivities

Prescription Diet k/d + Derm Complete and Prescription Diet k/d + z/d Hydrolyzed by Hill’s Pet Nutrition are new therapeutic diets formulated for dogs and cats, respectively. Designed for pets with chronic kidney disease and concurrent dermatologic or gastrointestinal sensitivities, the diets are built around ActivBiome+ Kidney Defense, a prebiotic fiber blend intended to activate the gut biome and help reduce the accumulation of harmful waste products. The canine formula contains a novel protein to help manage food sensitivities, while the feline formula contains hydrolyzed proteins broken down into small pieces to avoid triggering an immune response. Both feature reduced phosphorus and sodium levels and enhanced omega-3 fatty acids and are available in dry and wet formulations through veterinary recommendation.

Feline-specific diabetes management guidelines

The 2026 AAHA Diabetes Management Guidelines for Cats by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) are the organization’s first recommendations focused exclusively on feline diabetes. Built on the 2018 AAHA Diabetes Management Guidelines, the updated guidance includes recommendations for SGLT2 inhibitors and advises against in-hospital blood glucose curves due to stress hyperglycemia. The guidelines cover diagnosis, at-risk patient recognition, dietary management, SGLT2 treatment and monitoring, and diabetic remission.
