The Morris Animal Foundation announced it is now accepting research proposals for The Morris Animal Foundation Veterinary Student Scholar (VSS) program. VSS is a competitive program that gives veterinary students the chance to be involved in mentored research that strives to advance the health and/or welfare of dogs, cats, horses, and wildlife.

According to an organizational release,1 the program awards stipends up to $5,500 to selected students by their institution to participate in basic animal health or clinical research. To be selected, students must attend a school of veterinary medicine that qualifies graduates to practice veterinary medicine within the country of the school and is recognized by its government. Interested students must then apply for the VSS program through their institution.

The Morris Animal Foundation urges schools to pick and submit the student projects that are the strongest in scientific merit, an opportunity for the scholar to develop research skills, the potential animal health impact, and must meet the Morris Animal Foundation’s mission and guidelines.

The deadline for submission is December 9, 2022, at 4:59 PM ET. Interested applicants can use the Morris Animal Foundations website to learn more information and find its guidelines.
