Pullman, Wash.
-- The dean of Washington State University (WSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) will step down at the end of the month to take over the duties of WSU provost full-time.
WSU CVM Dean Warwick Bayly temporarily assumed the post of WSU provost Sept. 23 after the newly hired provost took a leave of absence. Bayly has performed both jobs since, with two others in the CVM assisting him with his duties as dean.
Bayly announced his decision to take over as the permanent provost in a letter to CVM members in mid-October, after the new provost officially left his post. WSU are expected to make an official announcement Oct. 31.
Bayly, who began serving as dean of the CVM in 2001, is in the process of identifying an interim dean and might make an announcement by the end of the week.
Once an interim dean is selected, Bayly will get faculty input on the best way to choose the next dean.
