Water safety for the dog days of summer

Here's peace of mind for owners of small dogs that are too compact to swim effectively-or of dogs that disobediently swim in the neighbor's pond.

A pet company adapted a water safety device that's widely used to protect children from accidental drowning for dogs.

The sensor attaches to a dog's collar and signals a base unit when the animal comes into contact with water-triggering an ear-piercing alarm. Thankfully, rain and ground moisture don't set off the warning system.
