-- Texas veterinarians who default on student loan or child support payments now can be disciplined by the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners under a new rule approved under the board’s Rules of Professional Conduct Jan. 14.
The rule, which took effect January 18, stipulates that any veterinary licensee who defaults on a student loan, breaches a student loan repayment contract or fails to pay child support may be subject to “disciplinary action by the board.”
The rule does not detail what types of disciplinary action can be levied against a licensee.
