"We're thrilled to be expanding the Pride collection this year and giving it even more purpose by giving back to The Trevor Project," says Jennifer Kovacs, vice president of merchandising at Petco in a company
"We value the various backgrounds, experiences, ideas, and perspectives that enrich the work we do for the diverse communities of pets and pet parents we serve at Petco—and our Pride collection is a beautiful representation of just that,” she continues. “The line offers a wide range of products that symbolize and celebrate the diversity found in the LGBTQ+ community."
As an official corporate partner of The Trevor Project, Petco vows to donate a minimum of $100,000, regardless of product sales. The new Pride collection includes a wide variety of rainbow-colored toys and vibrant pet and human attire with encouraging messages. According to the release, each product was designed to promote pride among pet owners and their pets.
"We hear directly from LGBTQ youth working to cope with daily stressors that they find comfort in their pets, and we're grateful to Petco for sending LGBTQ young people the message that they are supported and never alone," says Shira Kogan, director of corporate development for The Trevor Project. "Petco's support will help The Trevor Project continue supporting LGBTQ youth in crisis 24/7 and for free, while also working to prevent suicide and protect LGBTQ young people through research, education, advocacy, and more."
Additionally, Petco’s employee resource group, “LGBTQ+ at Petco,” is open to all partners, members, and allies of the LGBTQ+ community. The group spotlights inclusivity through language, benefits, career advancement, and support. In June, Petco and The Trevor Project will team up again to deliver Pride programming to Petco partners with an educational lunch and learn.
