Paws and profits: A microbiome-focused animal health company names a new CEO & more

New leadership moves, recognition, and achievement.

A San Diego-based microbial solutions company has appointed a new CEO, as its co-founder steps into a board and advisory role. Meanwhile, a clean-label pet supplement brand has brought on three experienced hires to strengthen its supply chain, research and development, and retail sales capabilities. Jason Benater, CEO, Native Microbials, Inc.

Native Microbials, Inc., a developer of microbial solutions for animal health, appointed Jason Benater as CEO, last month. Benater also joined the company's board of directors. He brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across the pet and human health sectors, most recently serving as chief commercial officer for Eversana's Complete Commercialization business. Before that, he spent more than two decades at Boehringer Ingelheim, including within the animal health division, where he helped drive more than $350 million in additional topline sales growth.

Co-founder and former CEO Mike Seely transitioned to the board of directors and a strategic advisory role.

David McCoy, vice president of supply chain, Native Pet

Native Pet, a clean-label pet supplement brand available in more than 13,000 retail locations nationwide, appointed David McCoy as its first vice president of supply chain. McCoy brings experience in pet food sourcing and manufacturing, having previously served as director of sourcing at Instinct Pet Food. In his new role, he will lead the company's supply chain strategy as it continues to scale operations.2

Brad Brown, director of research and development, Native Pet

Native Pet named Brad Brown as director of research and development. Brown brings a background in pet nutrition and product innovation from prior roles at Purina and Whitebridge Pet Brands. He will lead Native Pet's R&D strategy, advancing formulations and driving new product development.2

Beth Galli, director of pet specialty, Native Pet

Native Pet also appointed Beth Galli as director of pet specialty. Galli most recently served as senior director of sales at Instinct Pet Food and will focus on building and deepening partnerships within the pet specialty channel to accelerate Native Pet's retail footprint.2
