COLUMBUS, OHIO — Michael Lairmore, associate dean for research and graduate studies and professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University (OSU) recently was named to the national Institute of Medicine.

Lairmore is a noted virologist, cancer researcher and veterinarian, and has focused his studies at Ohio State on linkages between human T-cell leukemia viruses and specific diseases, and on human retroviruses. "This is a great recognition of an important research career," says OSU College of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Lonnie King. "His work serves as a bridge between important research entities in health science at Ohio State, including the James Cancer Center and the Solove Research Institute and the College of Veterinary Medicine."
