Letters: A mentor and a gentleman

Article

I read with interest the interview with Dr. Steven Swaim in the January issue. As a 1974 graduate of Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine, I grew to love and respect Dr. Swaim immensely.

I read with interest the interview with Dr. Steven Swaim in the January issue. As a 1974 graduate of Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine, I grew to love and respect Dr. Swaim immensely. He was my mentor as I developed skills in neurosurgery. I will never forget the encouragement he gave me as I progressed through school. Not only is he a terrific professor, but he is also a wonderful human being.

An Interview with Dr. Steven F. Swaim

In the interview, Dr. Swaim mentioned that Dr. B.F. Hoerlein was his mentor. I consider myself most fortunate for having had the privilege of knowing these two wonderful gentlemen. To have been mentored by both was far more than I could have ever imagined.

Thanks for letting the veterinary community know what a wonderful individual Dr. Swaim is.
