dvm360 wins cross-platform award from business media association

Article

In-depth coverage of pet pain and death from 2017 garners top honors in annual competition.

The three covers from the award-winning entry on pet pain and death.dvm360 is the winner of the 2018 Cross-Platform Package of the Year award in the Azbee Awards of Excellence, a yearly competition hosted by ASBPE, a professional association for those in business media. The team was honored for its 2017 dvm360 Leadership Challenge: Pet Pain and Death (dvm360.com/petpainanddeath), an in-depth look at end-of-life veterinary care.

“As with so much of our content, this package represents the true intersection of our multiplatform content, whether it be presented live at a conference, on a website or social media, or on a printed page,” says Jessica Zemler, senior director of digital products for dvm360, who accepted the award on behalf of UBM Animal Care, dvm360's parent company. “We have a stellar team both on the creative and operations side to make this content work so well in all our platforms.”

The honored work examines all aspects of pain and death in veterinary patients, including the fact that these areas can be some of the most difficult, most unusual and most rewarding in which to practice.

“As progressive veterinary care allows pets to live longer lives, the need to keep them comfortable in their later years and cross over the final threshold with ease and grace becomes ever more paramount,” reads the dvm360 team's entry for the 2018 Azbee competition. “Some in the profession have even made this their life's work, with an entire focus on hospice and in-home euthanasia.”

The package was part of the dvm360 Leadership Challenge series, which is published quarterly and designed to address the most pressing, emotionally charged and sometimes uncomfortable issues in the veterinary profession. Each Leadership Challenge is presented across all the dvm360 media platforms-three print magazines, dvm360.com, e-newsletters and social media-as well as at the Fetch dvm360 veterinary conferences held three times yearly.

The award was presented in conjunction with ASBPE's 2018 Media Success Conference, held May 10-11 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. ASBPE represents more than 1,000 journalists for business-to-business publications. This year's Azbee Awards garnered more than 1,000 entries. Click here to view a gallery of winners.
