A total of $3 million will be awarded over three years.

It's no secret that today's recent veterinary-school graduates are saddled with larger and larger student loans. Now Pfizer Animal Health is putting money toward those in school now under the banner "Commitment to Veterinarians."

Pfizer is funding $3 million in scholarships over three years through the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. The focus is on strengthening diversity in the profession and increasing the number of large-animal veterinarians to work in mixed or rural practices. The scholarship fund has grown by $1 million since dvm360.com reported news of the first scholarship recipients in May.

Veterinary students can apply for the scholarships at VetStudentConnect.com.
