COLUMBUS, OHIO - 4/27/05 - The immediate challenges for the new dean of The Ohio State University's (OSU) College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) will be to prepare for the college's 2006 accreditation review and upgrade its facilities to match the CVM's new four-story, $26-million Veterinary Medicine Academic Building.
Thomas Rosol, DVM, PhD, Dipl. American College of Veterinary Pathologists, will take the helm July 1 as dean of OSU's CVM. Rosol, current OSU senior associate vice president for research and professor in the department of veterinary biosciences, was hired in April to succeed Glen F. Hoffsis, who left for The Iams Co. one year prior.
"The No. 1 item on the agenda is to start with a new small animal teaching hospital and then move to the large animals while at the same time making sure that these are well-rounded facilities that are great for teaching, client service and research," Rosol says.
Editor's note: See DVM's May issue for a detailed account of Rosol's plans for the country's largest land-grant college.
