ITHACA, N.Y. — The New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS) and Cornell University's veterinary college have teamed up to produce the New York State Veterinary Conference.
The first annual meeting will be Oct. 2-5 in Ithaca, N.Y.
The partnership follows a NYSVMS survey and a report that the group's annual meeting attracted less than 10 percent of its members. Similarly, the Cornell conference was canceled several years ago due to low attendance, a NYSVMS report states.
The new meeting will capitalize on the college's "state-of-the-art" facilities. NYSVMS Executive Board members believe the joint venture will broaden the scope of continuing education in New York, a state that ranks fourth nationally in the number of veterinarians.
