Merial introduces Tetradureժ 300 (oxytetracycline) injection, a prescription antibiotic labeled for cattle at high risk for bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica. Administered metaphylactically, Tetradure 300 provides therapeutic blood levels of the active ingredient for seven to eight days. Experience has taught producers that the risk to high-risk cattle doesn t stop after a couple of days, says Dr. Van Ricketts, technical service representative with Merial. Now practitioners can provide an antibiotic that doesnt stop then either. Tetradure 300 combines powerful 300 mg/mL formulation, unique 13.6 mg/lb. body weight dosage and long-acting composition to set a new standard for BRD protection. At a lower dosage rate of 9.0 to 13.6 mg/lb. body weight, Tetradure provides broad spectrum control of all major causes of BRD, including Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Haemophilus somnus. Tetradure 300 is also indicated for infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (pinkeye) and interdigital necrobacillosis (footrot). Tetradure 300 is labeled for use in beef, non-lactating dairy cattle and dairy calves, and can be administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously. No refrigeration is necessary, and no mixing is required. Tetradure 300 is available in 100, 250 and 500 mL bottles.
