Cornell will use gift for new fellowship program

Ithaca, N.Y.

- Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine has sights on strengthening its equine education and research programs following a the receipt of a $25,000 unrestricted gift from Plainfield Asset Management of Greenwich, Conn.

Plainfield has investments in several horse-racing facilities.

Cornell will use the gift to support a new clinical fellowship, which was awarded in its first-year to Dr. Sophy Jesty. The two-year Clinical Fellows Program addresses the shortage of academic veterinarians conducting animal disease research and costs $220,000 per student, according to the college.
