Colorado seeks VCPR exemption for drug dispensing
Denver - Veterinarians who help a colleague provide a needed medication to a patient will be exempt from any disciplinary action if a new Senate bill is passed.

DENVER — Veterinarians who help a colleague provide a needed medication to a patient will be exempt from any disciplinary action if a new Senate bill is passed.

The bill, introduced Jan. 31, would allow a second veterinarian, without a VCPR, to administer a drug when the primary veterinarian does not have access to the prescription drug needed by the patient.
The second veterinarian would not be subject to any discipline for administering the drug, as long as it is done in accordance with the exemption and according to board rules.
