Heal Cancer Care for Pets opens in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood

Heal Cancer Care for Pets, an independent veterinary oncology practice, has opened at 1642 W. Armory Way, Ste. 102, in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood. The clinic is led by Nick Szigetvari, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology), who is among fewer than 500 board-certified veterinary oncologists worldwide, and is focused exclusively on cancer care for dogs and cats. Services include diagnostics, chemotherapy, targeted therapies, palliative care, and treatment planning in coordination with primary care veterinarians. The practice is currently accepting new patients and referrals.

"Cancer treatment for dogs and cats is more than a series of medical procedures," Szigetvari said in a news release.1 "It's about protecting quality of life—for pets and for the people who love them. Our goal is to combine the best available science with meaningful guidance so families feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way."

Capital Veterinary Specialists breaks ground on specialty hospital in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Capital Veterinary Specialists held a groundbreaking ceremony last month for a new 20,000-sq ft specialty veterinary hospital in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The facility will anchor a 7-acre medical campus and is intended to expand specialty and emergency services for pet owners across the Florida Panhandle and into neighboring parts of Georgia and Alabama. The practice has operated in the Santa Rosa Beach area for nearly a decade, beginning with referred cases in 2016 and establishing a satellite clinic in 2019 before expanding services in subsequent years.

Planned services include computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, oncology, and surgical care, as well as emergency response capabilities supported by a helipad. According to the practice, no specialty veterinary facility of comparable scope currently exists within approximately 300 miles of the site. The project is expected to create around 100 jobs, and construction is set to begin immediately, with an anticipated opening in early 2027.

"For too long, families in this region have had to travel hours during medical emergencies to access advanced care for their pets," Stephen Favaloro, DVM, of Forest Park Animal Hospital in Panama City, Florida, said in a news release.2

The project is led by Kevin Drygas, DVM, DACVS, owner and lead surgeon at Capital Veterinary Specialists.

Pet Supplies Plus to open in Euless, Texas

Pet Supplies Plus is scheduled to open a new location on April 11 in Euless, Texas, at 2911 Rio Grande Blvd. The store is owned by Todd McAEvoy and Alan Mann, who previously worked in the restaurant industry. The location will carry products for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, and small animals, and will offer grooming services, self-pet wash stations, and curbside pickup. The owners said they plan to work with local animal shelters and rescue organizations on adoption events and fundraising.

The grand opening weekend will include free pet washes, discounts, hourly gift card giveaways, and rewards for members of the Pet Supplies Plus loyalty program. "We've spent our careers serving people, and now we get to serve pets and their families," McAEvoy said in a news release.3 "Pet Supplies Plus stood out to us because it feels local and relationship-driven. We wanted to build something of our own where we could be hands-on in the community, and this was the perfect fit."
