Maybe. Fresh frozen plasma contains albumin in low quantities. It would take 45 ml of fresh frozen plasma per kilogram to increase the albumin concentration by 1 g/dl. Because Roxy is a small dog, this may be an option and would require about 2 units of fresh frozen plasma. In larger dogs, however, this amount becomes cost-prohibitive and may not be medically advisable.
**Remember that this is only a stopgap measure, however, and will only buy time to control her effusion while you investigate her underlying problem.
