SCHAUMBURG ILL. — With the 10-year anniversary of the American Veterinary Medical Association's 2000 euthanasia guidelines fast approaching, the group's Animal Welfare Committee (AWC) prepares to review the document for relevancy and possible changes.
At press time, AWC members were surveying authors of the euthanasia guidelines to gauge what's worked since the 36-page report's inception and where revisions might be necessary.
"Euthanasia guidelines are a very significant document for AVMA," says Dr. Gail Golab, interim director of the association's Animal Welfare Division. "We want to make sure it's not only complete but that it's usable for everyone."
