Bethesda, Md.-Animal Planet will present a world television premierespecial episode of its New York-based original series Animal Precinct, Oct.12.

The episode, Animal Precinct at Ground Zero, chronicles the efforts ofthe Humane Law Enforcement (HLE) Department at the American Society forthe Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in the wake of the tragic eventsin New York City.

The hour-long documentary details how the ASPCA, along with numerousother animal welfare agencies, responded to the problems resulting fromthe World Trade Center attack.

Those other agencies include: American Humane Association, Animal MedicalCenter, Center for Animal Care and Control, City Critters, Humane Societyof New York, Nassau County SPCA, New York City Fire Department, New YorkCity Parks Department, Central Park Conservancy, Pennsylvania Animal andWildlife Service (PAWS), Pennsylvania Department of Corrections K-9 Unit,Rockefeller University Pet Foster Project, Suffolk County SPCA, SullivanCounty SPCA, veterinarians and veterinary technicians from New York City,Long Island, the Tri-State area and beyond, and the Veterinary Medical AssistanceTeams.

The episode follows ASPCA agents and investigators throughout seven daysof their rescue efforts.
