The Kansas Bioscience Authority awarded Abaxis Veterinary Reference Laboratory $650,000 over three years.
The grant was awarded to Abaxis to launch the first centralized nationwide veterinary reference lab, which will offer a range of diagnostics to veterinary customers in the companion-animal veterinary market. The Union, Calif.-based Abaxis announced the hub for its reference laboratory facility will be based in Olathe, Kan.
The grant was part of more than $2 million distributed to Kansas companies "working tocommercialize innovative bioscience technologies that will improve human and animal health," according to a prepared statement by the Kansas Bioscience Authority.
