May 3, 2022
Caitlin McCafferty, Editor

In this dvm360® interview, Leilani Alvarez, DVM, DACVSMR, explained what she wants other veterinary professionals to understand about the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.

During an interview with dvm360®, Leilani Alvarez, DVM, DACVSMR, director of the Tina Santi Flaherty Rehabilitation and Fitness Service at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center, explained because the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is brand new, many people are unaware of all the services rehabilitation specialists offer for various kinds of patients.

View the video below for the entire discussion. The following is a partial transcript.

Leilani Alvarez, DVM, DACVSMR: The most newly recognized speciality by the AVMA [American Veterinary Medical Assocition] is the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and I am a diplomate of that college. Because it is the newest specialty recognized by the AVMA, a lot of people still don't know about it, so they see these letters after our name and [say], 'oh I have never seen that before.'
