Virginia Tech to offer advanced imaging to area vets

-- The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM) is offering a new outpatient advanced imaging service for surrounding small-animal practitioners starting in June.

The service will provide weekly outpatient appointments for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and ultrasounds. The purpose is to open up access to advanced imaging procedures for practicing veterinarians without giving up their primary-care responsibilities for patients, the university reports.p>Dr. Gregory Daniel, veterinary radiologist and head of small-animal clinical sciences, who has been spearheading the project along with Veterinary Teaching Hospital Director Dr. Bill Pierson, reports the service is a win-win for both local practitioners and the veterinary college.

Local veterinarians will have easy access to state-of-the art diagnostics, and the teaching hospital will generate money to purchase even more state-of-the-art equipment.
