Veterinary Receptionist Week and you

“This is our time to recognize one another and celebrate what we accomplish every single day."

It’s that time of year again, when we are celebrated. A time to remember how incredible we are and how much more we do than answer phones or sit behind a desk. It’s also a time to celebrate each other.

Because let’s be honest—the days can be long and challenging. Sometimes the phone never seems to stop ringing, and the clock barely moves. There are those full-moon weeks where everything that can happen does happen. Difficult clients come through the door, and even the patients aren’t feeling the love. Those are exactly the moments we should think about during Veterinary Receptionist Week.

This is our time to recognize one another and celebrate what we accomplish every single day.

One simple way to do that? Write thank-you cards to say:

  • Thank you for showing up.
  • Thank you for handling that difficult client.
  • Thank you for explaining that medication.
  • Thank you for finding solutions, juggling the front desk, and stepping in when someone needs a moment.
  • Thank you for going the extra mile, for coworkers, clients, and patients alike.

Remind each other just how much you matter.

Not into cards? That’s okay. Small gestures go a long way…gift cards, a favorite snack, a coffee, or even someone’s go-to energy drink. It doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful.

Want to go further? Plan something fun together. A potluck, an ice cream sundae bar, walking tacos, a baked potato bar, or even a “candy salad.” Add games like bingo, a scavenger hunt, or silly activities like blindfolded pet drawings or painting each other’s portraits. The goal is simple: connect, laugh, and celebrate. Most importantly, take a moment to remember just how amazing this role truly is.

No other receptionist job is quite like ours. We juggle phones effortlessly. We calm anxious clients. We support grieving families. We keep schedules running and help

our teams stay afloat. We are the steady presence, the reassuring voice, and the welcoming smile.

We are veterinary receptionists, the face of the practice.

Our clients trust us. Our teams depend on us more than we often realize. Just ask them, they’ll tell you we’re rock stars. So this Veterinary Receptionist Week, don’t forget to celebrate yourself. You bring value, compassion, and strength to every single part of your job.
