This lecture will focus on the most common reasons that dogs present for urinary incontinence. A brief overview of urinary physiology will be presented. Various diagnostics for ectopic ureters will be reviewed in addition to standard and newer therapeutic options. The majority of the lecture will emphasize the diagnostics and treatment options for urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence. Other forms of urinary incontinence such as overflow and urge incontinence will be reviewed in addition to the medications that are commonly used for these disorders. (1 CE credit)
