Lexington, Ky.

-- Tickets to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games go on sale Friday (Sept. 25) at noon -- exactly one year before the games begin in Lexington's Kentucky Horse Park.

This will be the first time the games, held every four years, have come to the United States. Competition lasts 16 days, from Sept. 25 through Oct. 10, 2010. They are expected to draw 500,000 to 700,000 spectators and have a $150 million economic impact on Kentucky's economy.

Tickets for reserved seating in the 1,200-acre equine theme park will be available to each session of competition in the eight world championships of equestrian sport -- the eight disciplines recognized by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI). All tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster, online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or at Ticketmaster outlets. Prices range from $25 to $150.

Kent Allen, DVM, owner of Virginia Equine Imaging in Middleburg, Va., is the veterinary coordinator for the games. Sponsors include Lexington's Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital.
