James Gaynor, DVM, DACVA, DACVPM, pain specialist at Peak Performance Veterinary Group in Frisco, Colorado, says there is a lot going on in the veterinary pain management world—especially with stem cells.
Stem cell therapy on dogs is becoming much more well-known, Dr. Gaynor says, and people are gravitating toward platelet-rich plasma and targeted injection therapy. What's great about stem cells is that they can be given intravenously, he says, and they only go where they're being targeted. Dr. Gaynor also discusses the use of banked stem cells to treat cardiac problems, liver problems, etc.
