A platelet-rich plasma system known as Endoret PRGF (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) is now available to veterinary centers in the US to treat cats, dogs, and horses. The therapy uses a patient’s own blood plasma, which contains an elevated level of platelets and growth factors, to stimulate tissue regeneration. In addition to supporting healing, the treatment reduces inflammation and improves mobility.

The platelet-rich plasma system, developed by BTI Biotechnology Institute in Spain, has been used in more than 1 million human and veterinary cases across the world and is supported by more than 300 published studies and more than 2 decades of research, according to Endurance Technologies, the company that is distributing the system in the US for veterinary professionals.1

“Plasma taken from the blood contains a heightened concentration of platelets that cause proteins to be released, such as growth factors, improving healing and clinical treatment and thus enhancing the results of standard treatments as well as aiding in more complex conditions and interventions in different medical specialities,” BTI states on its website.2

Currently, Endoret PRGF is available to general practice clinics, specialty centers, and rehabilitation facilities across the country. “Endurance Technologies is excited to introduce this level of innovation to the US veterinary market. For too long, regenerative medicine has felt out of reach for most general practice veterinarians,” Lyn Hufnagel co-founder of Endurance Technologies, said in a news release.1

“The market was eager for more advanced, proven, and practical solutions. When we listened to veterinarians, we heard a clear need for regenerative options that were scientifically backed, affordable, and easy to integrate into everyday practice. Endoret PRGF answers that call, empowering veterinarians to deliver better healing, faster recovery, and improved outcomes for their patients,” Hufnagel continued.

According to Endurance Technologies, an owner of a pet clinic in Mahomet, Illinois, said the therapy has shown positive results in her practice. “We have integrated Endoret PRGF technology into our practice and have seen successful outcomes in multiple cases,” Joella Koss, DVM, owner of All About Animals Pet Clinic, said.1 “In our experience, the therapy has promoted tissue repair, reduced inflammation, and improved overall patient care.”

BTI reports that in human studies, the therapy has shown efficacy in reducing inflammation, accelerating hard and soft tissue healing, reducing posteprative pain scores compared with other treatments, and achieving higher bone volume in guided bone regeneration procedures compared to other platelet-rich plasma or regenerative biomaterial formulations.3

Endurance Technologies said it plans to expand access to Endoret PRGF through education, training, research collaboration, and partnerships with veterinarians.
