RECALL: Raw Pet Food Recalled Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

Due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, 4 batches of raw dog food have been recalled.

Four batches of K9 Natural Frozen Chicken Feast have been voluntarily recalled due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recalled batches have the following attributes:

K9 Natural Frozen Chicken Feast 2.2-lb Bags

  • Batch Number: #170517; Expiration Date: 17NOV2018

  • Shipped to distributors in Washington, California, Texas, and Colorado.

K9 Natural Frozen Chicken Feast 11-lb Bags

  • Batch Number: #150517; Expiration Date: 15NOV2018
  • Batch Number: #160517; Expiration Date: 16NOV2018
  • Batch Number: #170517; Expiration Date: 17NOV2018
  • Shipped to distributors in Washington, California, Texas, Colorado, and Pennsylvania.

Listeria can cause listeriosis in dogs, the clinical signs of which may include diarrhea, vomiting, fever, muscular and respiratory signs, abortion, and even death. Humans infected with Listeria may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, aches, and fever, as well as more serious ailments including arterial infections, endocarditis, and even death.

No pet or human illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products.

“At K9 Natural, the safety of our products, pets, and customers is paramount and we pride ourselves on providing the highest quality food made of the highest quality ingredients,” the company wrote in a recall announcement. “We are disappointed that this situation has occurred and K9 Natural remains committed to ensuring high levels of product quality and cleanliness right from the farm to the retail store.”

Consumers should return the recalled raw dog food to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement. For further questions, consumers should contact K9 Natural at 1-888-345-4680.
