Pets in weddings not a faux paw

Article

Pet participation is the latest wedding trend.

Photo by Getty Images/sozaijiten/DatacraftIt's springtime and that means one thing. Your schedule is jam-packed with a different wedding every weekend and if you see another Chihuahua in a tux you're going to barf. But what used to be considered, dare we say it, a bit tacky at weddings—pets walking down the aisle—is now considered the norm.

Revealing that everyone's definition of a family varies, 42 percent of respondents to a Veterinary Pet Insurance survey say they involved a pet or plan to involve a pet in their wedding ceremony. Eleven percent say they didn't include a pet in their wedding but they've been to a wedding where a pet played a part. Not everyone's keen on the idea of Rover jumping and slobbering all over guests wearing their wedding day finest: 47 percent say that only humans participated in their big day.
