To promote teamwork, recognition, and those ever-important thank-you's for a job well done, the Truesdell Animal Care Hospital in Madison, Wis., uses some very sweet rewards.

"We call it the 'You Made My Life Easier' awards," says Hospital Manager Mary Schmidt, CVT. "Any staff member who would like to recognize or thank another staff member for doing something nice can place a nomination in the 'You Made My Life Easier' envelope. We give verbal recognition by reading these nominations in front of the entire staff at our office meeting and then present the nominee with a candy bar of his or her choice."
