More young adults opting for fur babies

Housetraining, chewing, yelping—three joys of puppy ownership that not all of your veterinary clients want to experience. FlexPet conducted a survey of pet owners ages 21 to 30 and found that 61 percent would rather adopt an older dog instead of a brand new puppy. The majority of these respondents (89 percent) said the reason is they don’t have the time or patience to house-train a new puppy because they are working multiple jobs, or they are dealing with other time challenges in their lives. More than half (54 percent) also said they are choosing to add dogs to their families instead of children because they’re not sure they can handle the larger needs of a child.
