More than a ton of raw dog food recalled for potential Salmonella contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says California-based OC Raw Dog is voluntarily recalling more than a ton of Turkey and Produce Raw Frozen Canine Formulation pet food. Doggie Dozen Patties in 6.5-pound packages and 5-pound Bulk Bags have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Bags with the lot number 1151 and a "use by" date of Oct. 8, 2015, are affected by the recall and were distributed in Minnesota, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Colorado. The raw dog food is sold through independent pet specialty retailers.

The recall is the result of a routine sampling program by the Nebraska Department of Food and Agriculture. OC Raw Dog has ceased production and distribution of the product as both an internal and FDA investigation is carried out.

Consumers are asked to submit a photo of the package with the lot number to Olivia@ocrawdog.com for verification of the product in the marketplace before returning the product to the retailer for a full refund or replacement product.
