Fromm Family Foods recalls two wet dog food pâtés over potential metal contamination

Fromm Family Foods LLC has voluntarily recalled two wet dog food pâtés after receiving complaints of metal contamination in the products.¹

The recall covers Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet Dog Food and Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté, according to the recall notice posted to the FDA's website August 21, 2026.

What's affected

The recall covers 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pâté Wet Dog Food (12.2 oz cans, UPC 072705118700, lot EP2A3306 551006) and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté (12.5 oz cans, UPC 072705132324, lot EP2A3306 551029), both carrying a best by date of 032029.¹

Fromm, based in Mequon, Wisconsin, distributed the products to neighborhood pet stores and online retailers in the United States and Canada. The company has not specified which states or provinces received the affected lots.

Why it matters clinically

Fromm said dogs that ingest metal may show "choking, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort."¹ The notice also lists mouth and gastrointestinal tract lacerations, gastrointestinal upset, partial blockage, and potential intestinal obstruction as risks of the metal contamination.

No illnesses or injuries had been reported as of the recall date.

What to do

Owners who have either product on hand should stop feeding it immediately, check the UPC, lot number, and best by date against the recalled codes, and return the product to their retailer.¹

Fromm is directing questions to 1-800-325-6331, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm Central time, or to [email protected]. Practices should advise clients to bring in any dog showing the symptoms above after eating the recalled product.
