-- More than 4,000 veterinarians, veterinary students and technicians are expected for the 55th annual convention of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Dec. 5-9 at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

The program offers scientific lectures, many with continuing-education credit, networking events, industry forums, business education and practice-management sessions.

The science and medical sessions will include the latest research on lameness in racehorses and in-depth lectures on critical care and pain management. There will be four optional dry labs and an ultrasound wet lab.

The Kester News Hour returns, with Drs. Scott Palmer, Margo Macpherson and Bonnie Rush.

Other highlights include the AAEP trade show, fifth annual meeting of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians, veterinary student luncheon, externship career night and the AAEP Foundation celebration and auction.
