Idexx develops feline heartworm test

Idexx Laboratories, Inc. introduces the new Snap® Feline Heartworm Antigen test kit, an in-clinic diagnostic test that detects antigen from Dirofilaria immitis infection in cats.

Idexx Laboratories, Inc. introduces the new Snap® Feline HeartwormAntigen test kit, an in-clinic diagnostic test that detects antigen fromDirofilaria immitis infection in cats. The Snap Feline Antigen test is thefirst pet-side test licensed exclusively for the detection of heartwormantigens in cats, the company says. Feline heartworm disease occurs worldwideand was first reported in the United States in 1922. Signs of infectioninclude vomiting, coughing, dyspnea and acute death. Supportive therapyis available for infected cats, as well as preventive options for cats thatare at risk of infection, the company says.
