Accurately weighing birds is difficult; however, I've found that placing the bird in a clear, plastic strawberry container and weighing the bird and container make this task much easier. The bird is content to view the world through its "glass" house, and ventilation is adequate so the bird doesn't get stressed. It is also easier to observe the bird's condition in this container than it is to observe the bird when it is fighting handling and restraint.
