The growth of animal law
According to USA Today, many more of the USA's American Bar Association (ABA)-accredited law schools offer courses in animal law today, compared with 10 years ago.1 Animal law is being offered as a subject at more than 90 of the 196 ABA-accredited law schools. And three years ago, the ABA began including an animal law committee in its tort trial and insurance practice section.2 Course topics range from animal cruelty to veterinary malpractice and companion-animal custody to laws relating to the commercial use of animals.
