Wellington, Fla.
- The 12-year-old Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF) reached a milestone, announcing it has raised and distributed more than $1 million since its inception.
The nonprofit supports equestrians with life-threatening illnesses or catastrophic injuries by providing medical care, rehabilitation and help with essential expenses like housing and food during the recovery process.
Founded in 1996 as the Equestrian AIDS Foundation with the goal of providing financial assistance to people in the equestrian community suffering from HIV/AIDS, the group expanded its scope in 2006 and changed its name to the Equestrian Aid Foundation. The group provides assistance to people from all walks of life, from well-known competitors to unknown horse lovers ranging in age from 14 to 56, according to EAF.
