Try again. In the past, medium-chain triglycerides were recommended patients with IBD because these fats were thought to be absorbed directly into the portal blood stream and would not be lost through the intestinal tract. We now know that does not occur, so these triglycerides are no longer recommended. Diet therapy for patients with IBD should also focus on fat restriction rather than protein restriction.
