Julia Miller, DVM, DACVD: Unfortunately to all my shepherd lovers out there, German shepherd dogs are the poster children for autoimmune diseases, not just in the skin but elsewhere. And they're probably my most frequent flyer for things like lupus, and certainly also things like metatarsal fissures and whatnot.
