ATLANTA — Legislation in the Georgia Senate proposes increasing the penalties for fighting dogs or training them to fight. While dog fighting already is illegal in the state, only those caught in the act can be charged and the offenses are deemed misdemeanors. The new legislation would make the crimes felonies, which carry stiffer penalties.
