AAHA and Vetstreet end business partnership


After four years, both groups agree to terminate their preferred provider contract.

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and Vetstreet have decided to part ways after sustaining a preferred provider agreement for the last four years. Since 2008, the two groups have collaborated to produce the PetsMatter e-newsletter for pet owners, in addition to an annual state of the industry report that was presented at AAHA’s yearly conference. The decision to terminate the contract was a mutual decision, with both groups concluding that they wanted to move in different business directions.

“When it came time for AAHA and Vetstreet to review and renew the agreement, we simply were unable to come to terms, which is not uncommon in business relationships,” says Michael Cavanaugh, DVM, DABVP, executive director and chief executive officer of AAHA. “AAHA remains committed to empowering our members with the tools they need to successfully conduct their practices. We are working very hard to enhance the value proposition of AAHA membership, and actively seek out business relationships and synergies that help us do that best. AAHA wishes Vetstreet the best in their future endeavors, and thanks Vetstreet for their support over the years.”

AAHA plans to announce a new plan for its veterinary members who still want to distribute a newsletter to clients. The new system—like PetsMatter—will be free of charge to AAHA members.
