Your role in vaccinations

Every team member has a role in the practice wellness program, including appropriate vaccine handling and administration. Practice managers can ensure that team members are properly trained and implement storage and handling protocols. Ideally, a two-person team should be responsible for the vaccines and vaccine log. All team members should understand the timing and spacing of vaccines, adhere to good recordkeeping, and maintain patient histories. Front desk team members must be sure to ask clients to schedule follow-up vaccine booster appointments. In addition, veterinary technicians may also help communicate vaccine benefits and risks, obtain an accurate patient history, and recognize adverse vaccine reactions.
