Wedgewood Pharmacy creates Veterinary Advisory Board

The company has appointed 11-members to the Board aiming to support its mission of enhancing the lives of animals and those who love them.

Wedgewood Pharmacy—the largest animal health compounding pharmacy in the US—has established its Veterinary Advisory Board comprised of 11 veterinarians who will promote the company's philosophy of improving the lives of animals and those who love them.

According to a release, this Board reflects Wedgewood's commitment to helping veterinary professionals flourish, aiding pet owners in advancing their companion animal's care, and cultivating a stable regulatory environment for the vital role of compounding pharmacy in animal health.

“The members of the advisory board, all accomplished veterinarians, have insight directly into the challenges, opportunities, and changing marketplace for professional animal-healthcare. The better we understand their unique perspectives and challenges, the better we can take quick, decisive steps and shape our company to support them," said Marcy A. Bliss, CEO of Wedgewood Pharmacy.

"Wedgewood Pharmacy’s success can be attributed to being attuned and responsive to the needs of its customers and that focus is deeply embedded in our pharmacy’s culture. Working with the Board will help us to focus even more sharply on the priorities that matter to our prescribers, pet parents, and patients, which will result in new product development, more efficient work processes, happier veterinary professionals, and better patient health outcomes," she added.

The Board members are as follows:

  • Cheryl Brocki, DVM, vice president of Veterinary Relations at Vet's Best Friend, Waltham, Massachusetts
  • Shawna Garner, DVM, telehealth specialist/private practitioner, Marshall, Illinois
  • Jay Griffiths, DVM, medical director, VCA Sunset Animal Medical Center, Sacramento, California
  • Pam Hale, DVM, MBA, chief medical officer, USA at Destination Pet, LLC, Acworth, Georgia
  • Andrea Johnson, DVM, cofounder and chief medical officer at PetVet365, Lexington, Kentucky
  • Antu Radhakrishnan, DVM, owner/Internal Medicine at Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists, Lexington, Kentucky
  • Rustin Sturgeon, DVM, national medical director of Ophthalmology at Pathway Vet Alliance, Overland Park, Kansas
  • Rob Swinger, DVM, owner and medical director, Animal Eye Guys, Hollywood, Florida

“Wedgewood Pharmacy has been known for years in the veterinary profession as a veterinarian-friendly company. It has a very strong, open culture in which it is safe to give and receive feedback. I see the company as a very agile problem solver. It is no surprise that it has enthusiastically embraced taking the advice of this powerful, diverse group of veterinarians who are leaders in the veterinary business and profession, all early adopters, highly creative, and forward-looking," said Todd Marcum, DVM, co-founder and president of PetVet356, who will chair the Board.

"So, looking to the future, I see a broader role for Wedgewood Pharmacy’s participation with key issues that are of great import to the profession such as mental health and new ways of thinking about veterinary practice," he continued.
