A tip to keep equipment clean
Wrap up centrifuges to keep them clean.

We use a sugar flotation solution to evaluate fecal samples and have had issues with keeping our centrifuge clean. The sugar solution is sticky and creates a crusty residue on just about everything it touches. We have found that the easiest way to keep the centrifuge clean is to cover it with self-adhesive plastic wrap. The wrap doesn't affect the centrifuge's balance, and instead of having to scrub and soak the entire inside, we just have to clean the rotor. If any coverslips fall off during spinning, the coverslip pieces don't fall into the motor, and all the pieces come out when we change the plastic wrap.
