Jenny Fisher, RVT, VTS: The first [reason] is that the early detection for cancer is so important to long-term survival for [oncology] patients and is [also] a fantastic way to utilize your technical staff. So many times, our technicians are scared of cytology because it is not something they learned a lot about, but it is a fantastic way for them to utilize their skills.
