-- Administrators at South Dakota State University voted recently to change the name of the school's Department of Veterinary Science to the Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences.
The change will reflect the school's increased participation in multidisciplinary research and educational programs and is compatible with the One Health Initiative.
The new name was unveiled at a July 9 ceremony. The name change is not expected to impact the school's state general fund budget requests.
